Big Man in the Big Easy: Mark Inman earned his real estate license at age 19. Although he went on to earn degrees in construction management and law, commercial brokerage is his calling. Inman specializes in commercial and land sales—he’s currently a candidate for the CCIM designation—but he hasn’t wasted his law degree. He became a licensed attorney in 2006 and now operates MEI Legal Services LLC to write contracts. His sales volume last year was $9.9 million, with 21 properties sold. In November 2008, he was named managing partner for the New Orleans office of CBC.

Real estate royalty: Inman’s parents operated a successful home building company for 15 years. His mother, Margie—also with CB Commercial TEC—is from a family involved in many of the area’s large-scale developments.

Patience is his virtue: Even with the tough economy, Inman says buyers can still get financing for transactions under $2 million. But commercial sales can be a waiting game, he warns. "The lag time can be two years to get the prospects to do anything."
