To the Top in 4 Years
Until her senior year at Clemson University, Mandy Becker, ABR, CRS, 29, envisioned herself as a lawyer. But a law internship shortly before graduation changed her thinking. Newly married, she looked into real estate at the advice of her builder-developer husband. She joined a local brokerage and within six months was drawn to RE/MAX, with its wide-ranging services. Just 18 months into her career, Becker became a broker-owner. She now has three offices, giving her the second-highest market share in her MLS. Her company’s growth was made possible by the relationships she’d built with other RE/MAX broker-owners in her area; when those brokers began looking to get back into sales, they turned to Becker with buyout options. Becker stresses value and service at her company. “In the long run, it’s about building relationships, not ego,” she says.
Tip: "In any difficult situation, always put yourself in the other person's shoes and try to give them the benefit of the doubt. Whether you're dealing with a client or another agent, doing this almost always helps you put your needs aside and do the right thing. It's difficult to do sometimes, but you will ALWAYS come out on top, no matter the situation."
