Riding the Market Slopes
When the market crashed in 2008, Bend, Ore., saw home values fall by 50 percent, says Jordan Grandlund, 28. How did she manage? She credits her adaptability. Grandlund first found success with short sales: “The two top-producing brokers in the MLS trusted me implicitly to handle short-sale transactions for their clients,” she says. And now that the market has rebounded, she’s thriving in new construction. Vacation homes and relocations are also big drivers. “I love that real estate is constantly changing. Every day I’m doing something different,” she says. When that fresh powder arrives in the nearby Cascades, she indulges her flexible schedule and hits the slopes. Her passion for skiing helps her meet potential vacation-home clients.
