Visibility Gained Through Giving
Leadership seems to come naturally to Jennifer Utz, GRI, 28, who knew from the start of her real estate career that she wanted to own a brokerage. To increase her visibility, she became involved in her local and state association, completing the state association’s leadership academy in 2011. Today, she sits on the Carroll County Association of REALTORS® board—and she gives back to the community through both the association and her church. When CCAR ran short of money for a scholarship fund, Utz offered to donate half the money if the association would match the funds. Her growing company now includes seven associates, a property management division, and a handyman division. Her recruiting is primarily through positive word-of-mouth. “Once word gets around town that you are honest, caring, and hardworking, it doesn’t take long until you have people asking to join your company,” Utz says.
Tip: "Go against the grain; it may not be the easy choice, but it's the one with the greatest reward."
