Changes to the Procedure for Approving Names of Member Boards and Associations:

At the 2015 REALTORS® Conference & Expo the NAR Board of Directors approved amendments to the Procedure for Approving Names of Member Boards and Associations to:

  • Allow parties the opportunity to supply additional written arguments and documentation fourteen days prior to any hearing.
  • Require that voluntary mediation be completed via video conferencing services.
  • Eliminate the procedure for state associations to conduct a hearing on a local association name change request. The state association will be copied on all correspondence regarding the processing of the application.  

Changes to the Procedure for Changing an Association’s Jurisdiction:

At the 2015 REALTORS® Conference & Expo the NAR Board of Directors approved amendments to the Procedure for Changing an Association’s Jurisdiction to:

  • Allow parties the opportunity to supply additional written arguments and documentation fourteen days prior to any hearing.
  • Require that applicant associations have a representative at any hearing.
  • Require the applicant association to notify the Designated REALTORS® with offices in the requested territory who are At Large members of the state association.
  • Require that voluntary mediation be completed via video conferencing services.

Changes to the Requirements to Establish a New Member Association of REALTORS®:

At the 2015 REALTORS® Legislative Meetings & Trade Expo the NAR Board of Directors approved amendments to the Requirements to Establish a New Member Association of REALTORS® to:

  • Eliminate the requirement that any applicant group have a minimum of ten real estate firms and fifteen charter members.
  • Require new associations complete a certification form acknowledging the duties imposed and resources necessary to comply with Core Standards
