The NAR Membership Qualification Criteria are the most rigorous qualifications which may be required by an Association of REALTORS® in the consideration of an applicant for REALTOR® or REALTOR-ASSOCIATE® membership. They were developed by the Membership Committee of the National Association of REALTORS® to provide "reasonable and nondiscriminatory written requirements for membership." Associations may elect to adopt all, some, or none of the criteria, but those which are adopted must be included in the Association's Bylaws. The Criteria and explanatory notes have the approval of NAR legal counsel and were approved by the NAR Board of Directors February 5, 1974; with amendments in 1982, 1985, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1996, 2001, 2006, and 2007.
