What makes her special: When there’s a leadership vacuum, Darby fills it. Her involvement in fund-raising for community groups and her area REALTOR® association has brought her name recognition, bolstering her referral business and driving her sales volume up to $7.6 million in 2002. “It was my biggest listing year ever,” she says.
How she got started: Darby began selling residential and commercial properties seven years ago, and quickly became active in the Meadowlands Board of REALTORS®. She has served on the board of directors for two years, has been education chair for three years, and is now board secretary.
Teacher, teacher, teach me real estate: When she’s not selling, Darby—a college education major—leads seminars on ethics, agency, safety, and cultural diversity and teaches the state licensing course.
Fund-raising muscle: Darby’s chair of the Muscular Dystrophy Association fund-raising drive for her company. She also chairs an annual fund-raiser for a senior center and volunteers at charity events to raise money for AIDS research.
