Suburban Philadelphia real estate practitioner Frances Flynn Thorsen is a champion blogger. She says blogging has helped her reach out to a larger audience of prospects and rank higher on search engines for a very minimal cost.

All it takes is a little blogging know-how.

Thorsen’s primary blog is TheRealtyGram Blogger, a chatty compilation of real estate trends. She writes it in a very informal style, which is what readers of blogs expect. She taps into a more specific audience with her blog about historic homes, and she also participates in a group blog, Real Estate Blog Squad, through which more than a dozen "authors" can post comments on a variety of topics.

"I'm a big fan of group blogs, because they have a way of hitting the big search engines like Google and Yahoo and reach a bigger audience more efficiently," she says.

The technology that Thorsen relies upon for her blogs is TypePad, which has a monthly cost is as low as $8.95.
