Stephen Gasque Voice Over:
A new benefit to help Realtors as real estate goes increasingly digital FHA makes condo financing easier to get And Realtors shine as NAR closes its 2015 conference These stories and more on The Voice for Real Estate Hi, I’m Stephen Gasque of the National Association of Realtors, reporting this week from the 2015 Realtors Conference & Expo in San Diego, California. It’s been a great week. Tens of thousands of Realtors from all across the United States have come here to learn, to find out about new laws and regulations, to network and make new friends, and especially, to learn how to build their businesses. And many of them, of course, are also enjoying the sights, the sounds, and the flavors of this amazing city by the sea. You know, a lot of big news has come out of this year’s conference, including decisions by the Board of Directors. As you know, the Board of Directors tackles tough issues that affect you, your clients, and your businesses. Let’s take a look at some if their decisions this year.
You recognize the name. It’s zipLogix, a 100-percent Realtor association-owned company. The Board of Directors approved a partnership with the company to provide all members access to zipForm Plus, which is an electronic forms software program, and zipTMS, which is a digital transaction management platform. The goal of the new member benefit is to keep Realtors integral to the real estate transaction as the processing of forms and transactions goes increasingly digital. Here’s Chris Polychron, NAR’ 2015 president, describing the benefit on the opening night of the conference. [QUOTE] If you have questions about this new member benefit, you can find answers in a comprehensive FAQ on Realtor.org. Just search NAR-dash-zipLogix. [SWOOSH] Another big story from the Realtors Conference & Expo in San Diego: the FHA agrees to relax its tough rules on approving condominiums with FHA mortgages. That’s a big win for Realtors and every client of theirs who wants to buy a condominium. Real estate professionals and their clients have complained for years that it’s too difficult to get an FHA-backed mortgage for a condominium. The changes announced at the conference are an important first step.
Ed Golding, FHA principal deputy assistant secretary, explains those changes. [QUOTE] The changes took effect immediately, and you can find those by going to HUD.gov and searching “mortgagee letter 2015-27.” [SWOOSH] So, here in San Diego, Realtors got a lot of new benefits, as you just heard, a lot of new friendships, and new referral contacts, and a lot of knowledge about how to grow their businesses. But a lot of Realtors also gave back. Hundreds of Realtors got together in nearby El Cajon to help Habitat for Humanity build houses for people who don’t have one. [QUOTE] It was a great week here in San Diego at the NAR 2015 conference & Expo, a great week for Realtors, and also, a great week for American home owners, home buyers, and home sellers. And that’s our show for the week of November 23. You can get much more about every story we’ve reported on today at the Voice for Real Estate page on Realtor.org. Thank you for joining us, and we hope to see you again next time as we bring you the latest news on The Voice for Real Estate. http://portal.hud.gov/hudportal/documents/huddoc?id=15-27ml.pdf
