NAR’s Victoria Gillespie, Shannon McGahn named “Women of Influence” by HousingWire

WASHINGTON (August 3, 2020) – National Association of Realtors®’ senior executives Victoria Gillespie and Shannon McGahn have been recognized as part of HousingWire’s 2020 “Women of Influence” awards. This year marks the list’s tenth annual installment, with Gillespie and McGahn selected from hundreds of candidates for their role “shaping and propelling the mortgage, real estate and fintech industries forward.”

“The winners of our 2020 Women of Influence award are truly outstanding,” HousingWire Editor in Chief Sarah Wheeler said. “Their leadership, initiative and innovation have positioned their organizations to thrive even in this very challenging time, and have set a new standard for excellence.”

Winners are selected by HousingWire’s Editorial Selection Committee based on professional achievements within their respective organizations, while community outreach initiatives, contributions to the overall industry and personal success are also considered.

“As a practicing real estate agent and Realtor® for 12 years earlier in my career, this industry opened doors that allowed me to provide for my family while still giving 100% as a mother to three young children,” said Gillespie, NAR’s chief marketing and communications officer. “I’m fortunate to have received mentorship and guidance from countless strong women in my career as an agent and during my 20-year tenure as a banking executive. I am thrilled to pay forward the lessons I learned to the next generation of dynamic women in this industry.”

HousingWire’s announcement also highlights the philanthropic work of this year’s winners, many of whom mentor other women in the industry, coordinate volunteer programs for their employees and/or serve on industry advisory boards.

“I was honored to begin my career working for prominent women leaders in the House and work my way up through the ranks with the support of other talented women,” said McGahn, NAR’s senior vice president of government affairs. “I’m equally proud to work alongside so many impressive and influential women today, and I look forward to continuing to mentor and encourage others to pursue positions of leadership in the advocacy, housing and real estate industries.”

HousingWire will run individual features for each winner on its website and in the August issue of HousingWire Magazine.

The National Association of Realtors® is America’s largest trade association, representing more than 1.4 million members involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries.
