NAR Presents Realtor® Peyton Norville with Distinguished Service Award

Peyton Norville

BOSTON (November 5, 2018) — Peyton Norville, a Realtor® from Birmingham, Alabama, has received the National Association of Realtors® 2018 Distinguished Service Award. The honor is presented yearly to no more than two of NAR's 1.3 million members. Winners were recognized at the REALTORS® Conference & Expo in Boston.

NAR established the award in 1979 to honor Realtors® who have made outstanding contributions to the real estate industry and who serve as leaders in their local communities. It is considered the highest honor an NAR member can receive; recipients must be active at the local, state and national association levels but must not have served as NAR president.

“Peyton’s hard work and service have made him truly deserving of the Distinguished Service Award,” said NAR President Elizabeth Mendenhall, a sixth-generation Realtor® from Columbia, Missouri and CEO of RE/MAX Boone Realty. “Peyton’s dedication and passion to his profession have not only greatly benefited NAR and the real estate industry, but also everyone he has worked with over his long career. Peyton’s remarkable achievements and service prove that Realtors® build and strengthen communities.”

Norville has been a Realtor® for over 40 years. He founded Norville-Randolph, Realtors® and merged the firm with Lawrence Arendall Humphries in 1996, serving as its Executive Vice-President for eight years.

“It is a tremendous honor to be awarded the Distinguished Service Award, and I am grateful for the support I’ve received from the Realtor® family,” Norville said. “Realtors® are fortunate that we get to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. I have had great mentors in my career and that has guided my desire to assist and become a resource for others.”

Positions include Realtor® Emeritus in 2013, the Federal Political Coordinator for Senator Richard Shelby since 2000, State President of the Board of Directors in 1998, and chair of the Business Issues Committee in 2005. He also served as chair for the Contract Clauses Taskforce, Legal Issues Committee, Nomination Committee, Building and Grounds Committee, Public Relations Advisory Board, and the Strategic Planning Committee. In 1986, Norville was honored as Realtor® of the Year.
