Michael D. Oldenettel

Michael D. Oldenettel (AHWD, CRS, GRI) served as the Member Engagement Liaison for the National Association of REALTORS® in 2023.

Oldenettel is the designated managing broker for The Real Estate Group Inc., a large, multi-office, independent firm based in Springfield, Illinois. He was NAR’s 2021 Regional Vice President for Region 7. He is a past president of the Illinois REALTORS®, a past president of the Capital Area REALTORS®, and a past president of the Jacksonville Area Association of REALTORS®. He serves on the NAR Board of Directors, the Illinois REALTORS®, and the Capital Area REALTORS®.

Oldenettel is a two-time president of the Illinois Real Estate Educational Foundation; is the past chair of the RPAC Trustees, the Professional Development Member Involvement Group, and the Professional Standards Committee; and is a two-time past dean of the REALTOR® Institute of Illinois. Oldenettel has chaired the Risk Management Issues Committee for NAR, the Broker Involvement Council, and currently serves on the Multiple Listing Issues and Policies Committee for NAR.

Oldenettel has served on the Real Estate Administration and Disciplinary Board for the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation since 2016, and also served on the department’s Education Advisory Council. He is an Illinois-licensed pre-license instructor and has been a REALTOR® for over 33 years.

Outside of real estate, Oldenettel is a competitive youth soccer coach, chairman of the City of Jacksonville Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals, a Boy Scout assistant scoutmaster, president of his congregation church council, and serves on the board of directors of the Two Rivers Land Bank.
