At Home With Diversity® is an educational opportunity designed to present a picture of the changing face of the real estate industry to real estate brokers, agents, association executives, and anyone associated with the industry.
While the passage of the Fair Housing Act in 1968 was a moment worth celebrating, it’s also important that we, as Americans and as real estate professionals, look at what’s happened since that historic moment.
I live in a bustling neighborhood in Chicago called Boystown, the city’s best-known gay enclave, with a plethora of bars, shops, and other businesses tailored for the LGBT community.
Here are some things you and your REALTOR® association can do to recognize Fair Housing Month:
- Sponsor a local Fair Housing Month poster contest. Afterward, make association calendars out of the artwork.
- Publish the REALTOR® Fair Housing Declaration and post it in your office and/or association.
- Use the Fair Housing Proclamation and have your local government proclaim April as Fair Housing Month.
- Display the 2017 Fair Housing Focus Poster in your office and/or association.
