2018 Success Stories
Bonita Springs-Esteros REALTORS®
Club: Boys Girls Club of Pueblo Bonito
Years Involved: 1
After serving on an United Way Allocations team, I saw the need for funding to help our local Boys & Girls Club. The building was lackluster and not stimulating for children. I reached out to our Affiliate committee and told them that needed to be our community outreach focus.
We planned a social and asked our members to bring snacks to give the kids a treat for the summer programs. That event led to an SUV filled with snacks.
Currently we are planning our first ever 5K run called “Sprint for Students”, which will benefit our local Boys & Girls Club and the local high school athletics departments. We will be able to have the kids in the Boys & Girls Club to participate in the run by volunteering. Our local Keller Williams chose to paint and give a facelift to the BGCA Teen Center on their Red Day. We do plan on staying involved with our local Club by getting our YPN to go in and provide mentorship to the kids during afterschool care.
Terre Haute Association of REALTORS®
Club: Boys & Girls Club of Terre Haute
Years Involved: 6
The Past Director of the Boys & Girls Club was an old class mate of my husband's. They were State basketball champs for the Boys & Girls Club, and got to go to Puerto Rico in the ‘70s. Through conversation, we decided that the Boys & Girls Club were in need of art supplies for after school programs, summer and rain days. So our local REALTOR® Association agreed to do a donation drive. We have done it every year since then. Our local Boys & Girls Club is much needed in our local community. It is our goal at this time to continue to partner with the Boys & Girls club of Terre Haute.
Eastern Bergen County Board of REALTORS® (EBCBOR)
Club: Boys & Girls Club of Lodi/Hackensack/Teaneck
Years Involved: 3
The Eastern Bergen County Board of REALTORS® (EBCBOR) partnered up with The Boys & Girls Club of Lodi/Hackensack/Teaneck in August 2017 to help as aides to the staff throughout the day for the scheduled program offered through the organization, which currently serves 2,200 local kids in Lodi, New Jersey. During their volunteer day, EBCBOR members presented a check of $1,000 to the Club. These funds will be used to benefit their Academic Success Programs, Healthy Lifestyle Programs, and Citizenship Programs, all of which are part of their after-school programs.
The money was raised by Bergen County YPN's Annual “Tools for School Benefit”. This annual networking benefit event was designed to raise money and school supplies for kids in the local Bergen and Hudson County area.
Additionally, member and K-9 Officer, David Ciliento of Modern Realty, gave a fun and educational presentation to the kids about the important roles K-9 officers play in the police force. Member and local Dairy Queen Owner, Konstantinos Menagatos of BHG Rand Realty Fort Lee, provided ice cream for a fun and delicious afternoon snack.
Our membership is very dedicated to giving back to the community, and being able to help the future of tomorrow is always very rewarding. We are looking forward to continuing to work with the Boys and Girls Club in the future!
Coastal Carolinas Association of REALTORS®
Club: Boys & Girls Club of Grand Strand
Years Involved: 3
Coastal Carolinas Association of REALTORS® has been involved with many projects with the local Boys & Girls Club of the Grand Strand.
We have partnered in creating the Job Readiness Program to help teens prepare for a job after high school. We host a Spring, Summer, and Fall session. The courses our REALTORS® and Affiliates have helped with are Dress for Success, Work Ethic, and Responsibility: The Law of Success presented by YPN and the Community Outreach Committee.
Another program we helped with is making college care packages for those graduating from the local Club and going to college. We made 17 care packages for those graduating in 2018.
A new project this year is one of our REALTOR® members, Jerry Pinkas, who has a pinball museum and we are going to coordinate this summer for teens, YPN ,and the Community Outreach Committee to spend some time with the teens playing pinball.
