NAR Research has produced a total of 3,147 Relocation Reports for U.S. counties. The Relocation Report for each county presents information for that county on county‐to‐county migration flows within the United States, the average incomes of households moving between the specific county and other counties, demographic summaries of homeownership rates, and types of home mortgages (e.g., Conventional, FHA, VA, and FSA/RHS). The most recently available data are for 2010.

Martin County is located in the Treasure Coast region of Florida, a term in usage after salvagers began recovering Spanish treasure from the 1715 Treasure Fleet, lost in a hurricane. The City of Stuart and town of Jupiter Island are two of the population centers.

Total in-migration to the county was 4,158 households, of which 1,628 households came from out of state--for example,

  • Suffolk County, NY (48 households)
  • Ocean City, NJ (28 households)
  • Hartford, CT (20 households)

In-migration from in-state counties included St. Lucie (888 households), and Palm Beach (795 households).
Total out-migration was 3,940 households, of which 1,330 moved to a different state-- for example,

  • Suffolk County, NY (18 households)
  • Wake County, NC (15 households)
  • Mobile County, AL (14 households)

Out-migration to counties in Florida included St. Lucie (1,116 households) and Palm Beach (590 households).

The homeownership rate for Martin County was reported as 78%. For home sales with mortgages, 78 percent were conventional, 18 percent FHA-insured, and 3 percent VA-guaranteed.

The average income of households moving into Martin County was $ 62,879, and the average income of households leaving the county was $ 39,151.
