2012 NAR Member Profile: Repeat Business and Referrals

  • The typical REALTOR® earned 19 percent of their business through repeat business from past clients and customers - and 20 percent through referrals from past consumers and clients.
  • As expected, experienced REALTORS® reported a greater share of repeat business and referrals from clients or referrals.
  • Repeat business was more common among REALTORS® with more experience (a median of 23 percent for those with 16 or more years of experience, compared to three percent for those with two years of experience or less).
  • Similarly, referrals were more common for REALTORS with more experience (a median of 38 percent for those with 16 or more years of experience, compared to none for those with two years of experience or less.)
