Goal #1:

Work with NAR staff and other AE subject matter experts to plan the curriculum for the 2017 AE Institute, scheduled for March 17-20, 2017, in Denver, Colorado.

Expected Outcome:

AEs are better prepared to address the issues that have an impact on their members' business. The course, speaker, and overall program rating for the 2017 Institute are 4.0 or above (on a 5.0 scale, with 5.0 being the highest).

Action/Update:

During the planning session in Chicago, various NAR staff worked with the advisory board on  particular topics. The advisory board also drew on subject matter experts from various demographics to help ensure that all of the education sessions are more targeted and the speakers better prepared to address our audience.

Goal #2:

Structure programming to allow for presentations on NAR initiatives and emerging strategic issues that are relevant to all levels of the organization. 

Expected Outcome:

Open timeslots in the AE Institute curriculum will allow attendees to be briefed on NAR initiatives, the most up-to-date strategic issues on the industry horizon, so they return to their associations (and to their association leadership) with the latest information.

Action/Update:

There are some designated open timeslots in the AE Institute curriculum so attendees can be briefed on NAR initiatives and the most up-to-date strategic issues on the industry horizon. There is also some flexibility to adjust programming as needed.

Goal #3:

Incorporate more programs on advocacy, consumer outreach, and multiple listing services into the 2017 curriculum.

Expected Outcome:

Attendees will leave the Institute with a better understanding of the Core Standards, in particular the advocacy and consumer outreach standards, as well as the impact MLS continues to have on the industry and members’ business.

Action/Update:

The three programming tracks (Customer Service, Peer-to-Peer Game Changers, and Technology & Communications) offer classes that cover topics such as embracing MLS consolidation, innovative customer service techniques, building your community brand, and data security. There will also be a special program on Monday for all attendees that is dedicated to sharing the traits of successful REALTOR® association executives. These classes work to round out the 2017 curriculum to ensure it meets AEs’ needs.

Goal #4:

Ensure the Institute satisfies the learning needs of seasoned AEs as well as those who are new to the business.

Expected Outcome:

The CEO Track will help seasoned AEs, who have felt less a part of Institute over the past few years, now feel a renewed energy and sense of belonging; newer AEs are given the proper instruction they need to start managing their associations with greater confidence, and have more opportunities to network with AEs of similar tenures.

Action/Update:

The advisory board worked thoughtfully to ensure that all levels of experience would be met through the three education tracks and the standalone CEO Track, which targets those AEs with more REALTOR® association management experience.
