Final Report

Work Group Objective

To consider a new member type field in NRDS that would allow associations to track corporate affiliate office members.

Texas Association of Realtors® Request – Discussion and Recommendation

The AEC NRDS Policies Work Group met virtually to consider the following recommendation that was submitted by the Texas Association of REALTORS®.

“That a new Member Type field CCO (corporate contact only) be added to NRDS for state use only.”

Rationale: The state of Texas has increasing corporate membership and needs a way to track corporate contributions by an individual’s name. NAR only tracks corporate contributions by the corporate name.  By adding a new Member Type to the NRDS fields, Texas and other states can track corporate donations.  The new Member Type does not impact other states that don’t track corporate donations.

The recommendation was approved and will be submitted to the AEC for consideration at its REALTOR® Party Convention meeting on May 13 in Washington, DC.

NRDS Update and Review

Chris DeRosa provided an update on what has transpired with NRDS since the work group’s last meeting in 2011 including:

  • Review of approved National only Member Types
    1. Student - $25 dues; attending college; access to
    2. Academic – $200; need to be teaching real estate related courses; access to and RPR research
    3. National Affiliate Member - $500; corporate engaged but does not list or sell real estate; intended for global members
  • Review of choices added to Member Type for state use only
    1. LFRO (Limited Function Referral Office) for California Association of REALTORS® pilot on licensee reporting
    2. MLO (Mortgage Loan Originators) for California Association of REALTORS® mortgage loan originator requirement
  • Update on new billing process for Institute Affiliate (IA) members
    1. The Institutes, Societies, and Councils of the National Association of REALTORS® shall collect and remit dues electronically to NAR for IA members in the amount of $105.  NAR credits back $35 to the account of the state and $35 to the local association. This new online process eliminates confusion on missing dues payments under the old manual system.
    2. can delete application
  • Creating a recurrent payments options for members paying via e-commerce (mostly used by MLS)
  • Military service tracking implemented in 2010 - 50 records in NRDS
  • National dues update reports – can access live member counts monthly (only for associations who send NAR dues electronically)
  • COE reports – can access COE report (only for associations who enter COE (COEN/COEC course codes)
  • MLSs as POEs – Metrolist MLS in Colorado and Arizona looking into becoming Points of Entry (POEs)
  • display opt-out – members have the capability to “opt out” of appearing in “find a member”
