The REALTOR® Leadership Program (RLP) is designed to provide REALTOR® leaders with the skills and knowledge necessary to lead local and state associations.
The program focuses on key leadership and association management skills, including:
- Leadership and governance
- Staff and volunteer relationships
- Meeting management
- Conflict resolution
- Duties of directors
- Strategic planning
- Communicating effectively
What does the program consist of?
The program consists of:
- An optional-but-encouraged online course, Leadership 100
- Two 3-hour, interactive, live-presentation courses: Leadership 200 and Leadership 300.
Upon completion of the RLP course, participants receive a certificate of completion from the host association.
How can I participate in RLP?
Leadership 100 is offered online at no cost. L100 is now available for FREE through the Center for REALTOR® Development.
Leadership 200 and Leadership 300 are offered the day prior to NAR's Leadership Summit, held in Chicago, in August. While program content is geared toward REALTOR® leaders, Presidents-elect and their chief staff executive typically attend the RLP courses together as a leadership team. Registration fee is $250 and breakfast and lunch are included. Associations can also host these courses locally; learn more.
What sets RLP apart from other leadership programs?
RLP prepares REALTORS® for association volunteerism. State and local association leadership programs teach REALTORS® the skills that will help them succeed as association and community leaders.
The RLP and state and local association leadership programs may be considered stepping stones to NAR’s Leadership Academy, which grooms state and local leaders for potential leadership roles at NAR.
The REALTORS® Excelling in Association Leadership (REAL) Course, an online course available at no cost through REALTOR® University, covers many of the same topics that are covered in the RLP. However, the REAL Course is self-paced, while the RLP is an interactive learning experience.
