REALTORŪ Magazine Online: The real estate professional's business support tool.

Daily Real Estate News  |  June 8, 2010  |   8 Ways to Compete in Real Estate
Here are some lessons learned at the Awesome Females in Real Estate Conference by Inman columnist Bernice Ross about competing as a woman in the U.S. real estate market.

1. Don’t complain. It just wastes energy. Instead, step up your game.
2. Knowledge is valuable. As Jenny Pruitt says: “Information is free. Knowledge is priceless.”
3. High-end clients value turnkey service and privacy. Jacky Teplitzky, managing director of Prudential Douglas Elliman, attributes her success to providing a package of services to well-heeled clients who value them.
4. Online sophistication will pay off because today’s customers expect real estate professionals to be available all the time.
5. Be professional. Avoid unnecessary stress by asking yourself, “Will I remember this event 10 years from now?”
6. Demonstrate the right attitude. If you are happy and do business in a pleasant way, you will attract clients who have a similar attitude.
7. Learn by laughing. Be the kind of person who other business people want to know.
8. Have fans before you ask them to “friend” you on Facebook. Line up 25 friends before you build your Facebook page.
