Daily Real Estate News  |  September 26, 2007  |   In Memoriam: Linda Norton, 2002 Good Neighbor Award Winner
Longtime REALTORŪ Linda Norton, who was honored as a Good Neighbor Award winner in 2002, passed away on Sept. 22 after a three-year battle with cancer.

Norton, 57, was well-known in her Ft. Collins, Colo., community as a passionate advocate for affordable housing. As co-founder and chair of Funding Partners for Housing Solutions, Norton launched innovative programs to provide affordable housing to thousands of low-income home buyers and renters. In one project, she led a renovation that created 47 apartments for low-income seniors and saved a historic building.

Norton worked in real estate for 20 years, most recently with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. In 1989, Linda was named "Rookie of the Year" by the Fort Collins Board of REALTORSŪ, and three years later was named "REALTORŪ of the Year." She also served as president the Fort Collins board in 1994.

A Celebration of Linda Norton's Life will be held on Sunday, Oct. 21, in the Canyon West Room of the Lincoln Center, Fort Collins.

Norton died on the morning of Yom Kippur, the Jewish day of atonement. Her older brother, Lew Wymisner said, "Our rabbi told us it is an honor reserved for saints to pass away on Yom Kippur." She is survived by her husband, Michael Norton, and her son, Chase.
