|1 Million Added to IRPF Program Funding|
On July 21, 2005, IRPF received a modification to a core grant from the US Agency for International Development (USAID). This modification obligates and adds $1,000,000 to the Foundation’s original cooperative agreement. This addition will allow IRPF to continue its implementation of real estate market development programs.
IRPF originally entered into an agreement with USAID in September 2004, with the objective to provide real estate market diagnostic tools to USAID missions worldwide, conduct diagnostics/assessments in promising emerging real estate markets, and develop “solution packages” that would introduce international real estate standards and best practices in host countries. Since this time, IRPF has conducted its work under this agreement in a number of capacities, including collaborating with the Terra Institute to carry out field work in Afghanistan, and working with Chemonics to conduct an assessment in Egypt. Additionally, IRPF coordinated real estate trainings in Georgia in February and May 2005, as well as in Ukraine in June 2005. Strategic meetings and proposal development processes have been completed to provide mortgage lending and real estate technical assistance in Central America and Mexico projects.
The additional funding now available will contribute to a variety of projects currently in progress with partnering countries and associations, including the Central European Real Estate Association Network (CEREAN), Georgia, Vietnam, and Angola. IRPF also continues to forge critical working relationships with a variety of real estate professional organizations and consultant groups; through these partnerships, IRPF anticipates promoting its programs during the course of the next year in countries such as Egypt, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Dubai, among others.
