Article 1: Standards of Practice


View each Standard of Practice:

  • 1-1: REALTORS®, even when acting as principals in a transaction, must abide by the Code.
  • 1-2: The Code applies to all real-estate related activites; applies to all brokerage relationships; and provides definitions of “client,” “customer,” "prospect," “agent,” and “broker.”
  • 1-3: Do not deliberately mislead owners about market value of their property.
  • 1-4: Do not mislead buyers about savings through buyer representation.
  • 1-5: Dual representation can occur only with full disclosure and informed consent.
